Eagle Harbor (Cypress Island)

48° 35.3′ N · 122° 41.7′ W

A small bight on the east side of Cypress Island with DNR mooring buoys and a trail up to Eagle Cliff and across the island. It is quieter than Pelican Beach and looks across Bellingham Channel to Guemes.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM bay. Buoys are first come first served and fill fast in summer. A 2023 visitor found good holding with fair cover to the north-east and south-east of the buoy field, with few other options; it is open to the east. Some boats stern-tie near Elephant Rock just north, which DNR does not approve. Bellingham Channel currents run hard (NOAA station PUG1740 off Cypress Head; June-July 2026 predictions peaked near 5.2 knots on the flood and 5.4 on the ebb). No docks on the island.
