Cypress Head (Cypress Island)

48° 34.1′ N · 122° 39.9′ W · approximate

A wooded knob joined to the east side of Cypress Island by a low neck, with DNR buoys and a small campground. The bight beside the neck gives a popular anchorage close to Anacortes.

Practical

Position is approximate, in the bight north of the head (OSM cape at 48.5676, -122.6683). DNR buoys, first come first served, often full in summer. Shelter comes from the head itself; the spot is open to the north and to wakes from Bellingham Channel traffic. A light is on the head; Bellingham Channel currents are strong here: NOAA PUG1740 predictions peaked near 5.4 knots in June-July 2026. No water ashore.
