Lummi Island DNR Recreation Site (Lummi Island)

48° 39.5′ N · 122° 36.9′ W

A small DNR camp on gravel coves near the south tip of Lummi Island, below steep forested slopes. It is used mostly by kayakers and small boats and has five free sites with picnic tables and vault toilets.

Practical

Coordinate is the WWTA site position. Free, no reservations, five sites, no water. Reached by boat only; a ladder and ropes were added in 2022 to reach the headland site, and trails between sites are steep. Maintained by a local kayak club inside a Natural Resources Conservation Area: stay on trails. Open to southerlies and to Rosario Strait swell; anchoring off is short-stay in settled weather only. Eliza Island to the east has poor holding between it and Lummi in heavy weather (Coast Pilot).
