Chuckanut Bay (Bellingham)
48° 41.1′ N · 122° 30.0′ W
A rocky, wooded cove on the east side of Bellingham Bay just south of Fairhaven, partly sheltered by Chuckanut Island. It is the closest real anchorage to Bellingham, with Larrabee State Park just to the south.
Practical
Coordinate is the OSM bay. The Coast Pilot gives good holding just north of Governors Point, near the south end of the bay. A dangerous chain of rocks lies near the entrance: Chuckanut Rock in the north part of the bay has rocks awash north and south of it, and shoals surround Chuckanut Island to the west and south - stay at least 200 yards off the island. Open to the west and to Bellingham Bay wind and swell.
Best for
