Tenedos Bay (Desolation Sound Marine Park)
50° 7.2′ N · 124° 42.3′ W
A big bay on the east side of Desolation Sound, also called Deep Bay, with several sheltered nooks around its edges. A short trail leads from the head of the bay to Unwin Lake, the best freshwater swim in the park.
Practical
Coordinate is the OSM bay point. The centre is 90-180 m (300-600 ft) deep: anchor close to shore and stern-tie. The best shelter is in the landlocked basin behind the island off the north-west shore, which is joined to the mainland by a drying shoal. One guide counts 14 stern-tie rings near the campsite in the north-east bay. A submerged rock lies off the south side of Bold Head, farther out than you expect: give it a wide berth when coming from Refuge Cove or Mink Island. BC Parks campsite with three tent pads, outhouse and information shelter; treat creek water. Not a federal designated sewage area, but BC Parks prohibits sewage discharge throughout the park. No fires.
Best for
