Squirrel Cove Public Wharf (Cortes Island)

50° 7.0′ N · 124° 54.8′ W · approximate

The public wharf in the outer part of Squirrel Cove, next to the general store. It is the place to tie up for groceries, fuel, a meal ashore and the summer Sunday market.

Practical

Position is approximate, at the wharf below the store. About 200 ft (60 m) of guest dock with 15, 20 and 30 amp power, often full in summer; short stays are easier. Garbage drop and picnic tables. Washrooms, showers and laundry are in a building just west of the store. The store's own fuel dock (gas and diesel) is small and usable only at higher tides. The outer bay is less protected than the inner basin; anchor inside for the night. A Sunday market runs about 11 am to 3 pm in summer. The Cove restaurant and the Flying Squirrel take-out are at the head of the wharf.
