Mansons Landing (Cortes Island)

50° 4.3′ N · 124° 59.0′ W

A shallow bay on the west side of Cortes Island with a public dock, a sand spit and a lagoon inside Mansons Landing Provincial Park. Hague Lake, with a sandy freshwater beach, is a short walk away, and the island's small shops are just down the road.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM point for the Manson Bay pier (public wharf). Anchor off or tie up at the federal wharf, space permitting; there is often room. We could not confirm depths or exposure from a current source; the bay is more open than Gorge Harbour, so treat it as a settled-weather stop. The lagoon behind the spit is for dinghies and kayaks at high tide only. Federal Designated Sewage Area: no sewage discharge. No potable water and no camping in the park (camp at Smelt Bay). About 1 km south by road are two grocery stores, a post office, the museum and cafés. Check BCCDC and DFO shellfish closures before digging clams.
