Anchorage· Galiano· Salish Sea — San Juans, Gulf Islands & Desolation Sound

Dionisio Point and Coon Bay (Galiano Island)

49° 0.8′ N · 123° 34.5′ W

A boat-access provincial park at Galiano's northern tip, overlooking Porlier Pass, with sandy coves, sculpted sandstone shelves and tide pools. Coon Bay is the small anchorage at the heart of the park.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM bay (Coon Bay). Small: room for a few boats in settled weather; check depths on charts 3473/3442. Open to the north and to swell from the Strait of Georgia; the fast Porlier Pass currents are close by. The road access is private and gated, so the park is reached by water. Walk-in campsites (no reservations). A BC Parks buoy here is for staff only. Water (boil before use) is available May 1 to September 30. Penelakut archaeological sites are fenced: keep out. Check DFO shellfish closures before harvesting: paralytic shellfish poisoning occurs here. BC Parks bans dumping sewage or grey water while moored in its marine parks.

Best for

Beaches, tide pools and a wild corner of Galiano

Season
