White Beach Anchoring and Boat Traffic Rules
11° 57.5′ N · 121° 55.2′ E · approximate
The documented rules for bringing a yacht to White Beach: anchoring is regulated, you call ahead on VHF 16, and the Coast Guard now runs speed limits, sea lanes and a one-entry, one-exit system around the island.
Practical
Approx: shares the White Beach roadstead position (open water about 600 m off Station 2). What the sources say: (1) YIT cruising guide: anchoring directly off White Beach is restricted and heavily regulated by the Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force to protect the seagrass and sand; contact the Boracay Tourism Office or the Philippine Coast Guard Station Boracay on VHF 16 before approaching; dinghy ashore only at public landing areas; no anchoring fee is published, but tourism and environmental fees apply at the jetty terminals. (2) PCG Aklan, October 2024: harbour speed limits around Boracay and Malay, designated shipping routes off the west coast, and a monitored one-entry, one-exit system for the island. (3) 2018 rehabilitation: 30 m buffer back from the waterline; sewage pollution caused the closure, so never discharge holding tanks near the island. No published anchoring zone boundaries, penalties or ordinance number were found: ask PCG for the current designated area when you call. Port of entry for foreign yachts is elsewhere (YIT names Iloilo City); Caticlan has no formal customs for yachts.
