Boracay Beach Rules (post-2018)

11° 57.6′ N · 121° 55.5′ E

Since its 2018 six-month closure and rehabilitation, Boracay enforces strict beach rules to protect its sand, water and reefs.

Practical

Position: White Beach (Wikivoyage marker). Rules reported since the October 2018 reopening: pre-booked accredited accommodation required to board boats; no eating or drinking on the beach, no smoking, no fire dancing, no commercial sandcastles, no chairs, loungers or umbrellas on the sand; masseurs, vendors and bonfires cleared from the beachfront; 30 m setback from the waterline. Bats protected in Yapak by ordinance. Do not discharge holding tanks anywhere near the island: sewage-driven algal blooms were the reason for the closure.
