Tagbilaran Port Anchorage
9° 38.4′ N · 123° 51.1′ E
The capital's harbour in the strait between Bohol and Panglao, the best-protected stop in this area, with all of Tagbilaran's malls, markets and government offices within a tricycle ride.
Practical
MV Solita cruising notes (Woods, 2014): 9 38.38'N 123 51.06'E, 2-4 m over sand. Follow the leading marks into the harbour, then take great care to find a deep patch among the shallows. Excellent protection from most directions except west to north-west. They found the harbour shallow with several small reefs and somewhat open to the south-west, rolled at anchor, and at the next high tide moved further south towards the Panglao bridge to a slightly deeper hole with much less wind and swell. A tiny 'marina' sits inside the ferry wharf area. The Tagbilaran light and channel beacons Nos 1-8 are charted on OpenStreetMap at the harbour entrance (around 9.655-9.658N, 123.828-123.832E). Heavy fast-ferry traffic to Cebu, Dumaguete and Siquijor: anchor well clear of the ferry berths. Good mobile signal.
