Subic Bay Freeport Entry Permit and Insurance

14° 49.2′ N · 120° 17.4′ E · approximate

Inside the Freeport every vessel movement is controlled. Paperwork, insurance and Coast Guard permission come before you shift berth, go for a sail or head out to the coves.

Practical

Coordinates approximate (plotted at the SBYC berths). Every harbour movement needs Coast Guard approval, and the Coast Guard in turn asks the SBMA General Manager of Seaport, so give advance notice before moving the boat (Noonsite 2023). SBYC requires proof of third-party liability insurance from visiting yachts. Anchored boats can be charged daily harbour cleaning and pilotage fees when they leave (see SBMA Port Operations and Clearance). In 2024 you could also be told to anchor wherever officials direct while awaiting clearance. Keep a copy of your inbound clearance aboard for Coast Guard checks.
