Sangat Island West Mooring and Hot Springs
11° 58.3′ N · 120° 4.0′ E
A heavy free mooring off Sangat's west side within dinghy range of several WWII wrecks, with warm springs seeping out between the rocks ashore and monkeys on the cliffs.
Practical
Sloepmouche (2017): free mooring at 11 58.32N 120 03.96E in 16 m sand: three cement barrels, about 10 m of navy chain and about 25 m of big blue polypropylene line with a floating barrel and spliced pickup (inspect before trusting it). No Globe, weak Smart. A little south, at about the level of a very small boat mooring, hot springs emerge between the rocks: at high tide you can feel the warm water. Going north where the mangroves begin, at very low tide you can walk the shore to a small walled hot-spring pool. The Olympia Maru is 1/4 nm away among the pearl-farm buoys: red mooring on the stern, black on the bow; dive at about 8:15am to beat the tour boats. Expect pearl-farm buoys throughout this area.
