Port Caltom Anchorage

12° 10.5′ N · 120° 5.7′ E

A deep, enclosed bay on Busuanga's north coast at the mouth of the Maricaban River, with a village, a spring and a river dinghy trip toward the airport.

Practical

Hackingfamily (May 2022): 12 10.47N 120 05.74E in 65 ft (20 m) mud, no approach hazards; shallower anchoring closer to the power lines. Power lines cross the Maricaban River just west of the anchorage and looked too low for a mast. Tiny sari-sari stores only. Fresh water from springs collected in cisterns up a mangrove channel (dinghy at high tide, NE of the anchorage), maintained by a family; offer a donation. A dock 1.7 nm up the river connects to the road, about 4 nm from Busuanga Airport. El Rio y Mar Resort, about 1 nm NNE, has moorings but cruisers reported hefty mooring and landing charges (2022). Cell (2022): Globe and Smart 4G.
