Discovery Coron (formerly Club Paradise), Dimakya Island

12° 14.0′ N · 120° 5.3′ E

The long-established island resort on Dimakya off Busuanga's north coast, rebranded Discovery Coron, with a beachfront Dugong Bar where fruit bats stream out at sunset.

Practical

Discovery Coron's site: formerly Club Paradise Palawan; restaurants Firefish and Sinag; Dugong Bar happy hour 4pm to 7pm daily; on-site desalination plant. Hawksbill and green turtles nest on the resort coastline November to January (about 200 hatchlings released a year). Mapped in OpenStreetMap as Club Paradise Palawan. The inventory's 'Dimakya Island Anchorage' could not be verified: no published yacht anchoring data. Contact the resort before approaching by dinghy; it is a private island. No anchoring: Webb (2009) says the resort prohibits anchoring to preserve the reef and directs yachts to Port Caltom (Maricaban), 4 nm SE; Sloepmouche (2017) was chased off by the resort skiff before they could anchor ('sailors are not welcome anymore'). Alternatives nearby: El Rio y Mar moorings in Port Caltom, the Port Caltom anchorage, Brigadoon's (2013) small anchoring shelf off Diboyoyan Island (about 12 16N 120 05E, turtles, fenced and guarded) or the NE corner of Dicapadiac Island (about 12 11N 120 08E, pearl-farm minders take your name). Calibauan Island is crowded with pearl-farm buoys.
