Luli Island Anchorage (Honda Bay)
9° 52.0′ N · 118° 46.1′ E · approximate
A lunch-and-swim stop off the south side of Luli, the Honda Bay islet whose sandbar covers at high tide and reappears as the water drops. Pambato Reef and Bonita Island are a short dinghy ride to the northwest.
Practical
Position approximate: plotted about 300 m south of Luli Island's mapped shoreline (OpenStreetMap way 306435841), checked to be water against the OSM coastline, and clear of the small reef patches mapped north (about 9.876 N) and east (about 9.863 N, 118.778 E). No published soundings or holding data: pick a sand patch by eye in good overhead light and keep off the coral. About 1.9 nm east-northeast of Santa Lourdes wharf. Day-tour bancas crowd the island from mid-morning to mid-afternoon; come early or late. Land by dinghy; island entrance fee PHP 70 in a 2023 guide (verify locally). Honda Bay's tour islands are protected: no fishing, no littering. Open to easterly wind and the northeast-monsoon fetch across the bay: a settled-weather stop.
Best for
A short-hop day anchorage closest to Santa Lourdes, timed for the Luli sandbar at low tide
Season
Best Mar-May and in settled southwest-monsoon weather; open to the east
