Cresta de Gallo Island

12° 11.2′ N · 122° 41.8′ E

A five-hectare kidney-shaped islet about 16 km south-east of San Fernando, Sibuyan, all white sand and coral reef in the open Sibuyan Sea, with a small light on it.

Practical

Position from OpenStreetMap islet outline; Cresta de Gallo light at 12.1827, 122.6961. Wikipedia: powdery white beach surrounded by coral reefs, ideal for swimming and diving; also a fishing ground. Wikivoyage lists a Cresta de Gallo dive (reef from 5 m sloping to 45 m; lobsters, sweetlips, turtles, sharks, mantas, eagle rays; 4–5 h by boat from Romblon) but gives a position about 10 km north-west of the islet, so treat that dive position as unverified. Completely exposed: day stop in calm weather only; no facilities. For anchoring see Cresta de Gallo Anchorage.

Best for

Remote desert-island day stop
