Cape Calavite Lighthouse

13° 26.7′ N · 120° 18.0′ E

The light on Mindoro's north-west corner, where the Calavite Passage meets the Mindoro Strait - the corner every Manila-to-Coron boat has to round, often in the strongest wind of the trip.

Practical

Position: OSM 'Cape Calavite Lighthouse'. Wikipedia (Paluan): Paluan town lies about 7 miles south-east of Cape Calavite, 'a major sea-lane'. Sail The Philippines: in the NE monsoon local fishermen say that when a significant cloud sits on top of Mount Calavite the breeze in the passage is very strong, most likely 20+ knots; wind against a flood tide makes 'very uncomfortable, square-waves'. Moken (Feb 2015) met easterlies topping 30 knots here at night. Light characteristics not verified.
