Calis Point Cove Anchorage (Coron Island)

11° 49.4′ N · 120° 15.6′ E

A spectacular cove just north of Calis Point on Coron Island's SE coast, entered over a coral bar, which Sloepmouche ranked as the most picturesque anchorage in the Calamianes and the equal of Bacuit Bay.

Practical

Sloepmouche (2017): 11 49.42N 120 15.63E in 10 m on a sand patch between corals over a hard bottom; no cell signal. Eyeball your way over the coral bar: plenty of depth but you need good light to avoid one or two very shallow heads. They anchored just inside the bar to avoid seaweed-farm buoys further in. Excellent protection from all directions except north, and in a northerly you can probably tuck in at the head of the bay (deeper water, near reefs and buoys). Several beaches to explore by dinghy; the Cathedral Cave dive is close by. Webb (2009) also lists it as a very nice little anchorage reached over the coral and sand bar.

Best for

Remote, scenic anchorage and base for Cathedral Cave

Season

Good in NE-E and SW; open to N
