Bulabog Bay Anchorage (Boracay)

11° 57.8′ N · 121° 56.3′ E · approximate

The east-side bay behind Bulabog's barrier reef: Asia's best-known kitesurf lagoon in the amihan, and the sheltered side of the island when the habagat sets in.

Practical

Approx: placed outside the reef line east of the OpenStreetMap Bulabog Beach outline, not a published position. YIT says Bulabog is possible during the habagat (May–Oct) in 4–7 m. Inside the reef the lagoon is only about 0.5–2 m deep depending on tide (lets-kite), with dead coral, rocks and urchins; do not take a keelboat inside. In the amihan (NE to E 12–30 kn, Nov–Apr) this is a dead lee shore crowded with kites, so do not anchor here then. Sunset cruises and charter pickups move to Bulabog beachfront in the habagat. Older reports describe sewage pollution in the lagoon; avoid swimming with cuts. Holding: YIT gives 4–7 m over sand outside the reef but no holding quality.

Best for
