Bantayan Town Anchorage

11° 10.8′ N · 123° 41.9′ E

An open anchorage about 1.5 nm off Bantayan town on the island's west coast - the way to reach the big public market and the 1580 parish church by dinghy.

Practical

PGYC document (2016): sandy anchorage near 11°10.80'N 123°41.90'E. Webb (2009): anchorage in 4.5-6 m about 1.5 nm from town with Bantayan Light bearing 078° and the church bearing 115° (these bearings intersect within about 0.3 km of the PGYC position); probably best in NE conditions. Perla Reef, which dries at low tide, lies WNW of the anchorage. Approach from a point 2 nm west of Patao Islet on a 130° range (a large tree on Bantayan and the centre of Panangatan Island), pass south of Perla Reef, then turn east when the reef bears 316°. Bantayan town itself can only be approached at high water by vessels drawing less than 6 ft. Seaweed farms and scattered bommies among the islets to the SW.
