Bantayan NE Coast Anchorage (North of Santa Fe)

11° 11.0′ N · 123° 47.3′ E

A pocket of deeper water tucked against the fringing reef on Bantayan's north-east coast, about 2-3 nm north of Santa Fe - quieter than the ferry roadstead and well placed for Virgin Island and the Hilantagaan group.

Practical

Elizabeth Jane II (July 2014): 11°11.03'N 123°47.29'E, anchored in 5.4 m next to a fringing reef; small tourist town at Santa Fe about 3 nm south by dinghy, with restaurants and a small vegetable store; a 9 km bike ride to Bantayan town's large market. Satellite imagery shows the spot as a darker patch right at the reef edge with deep water to the north-east - approach in good light and keep a close eye on the reef inshore. Sheltered from SW-W winds (habagat); open to the N and NE. Alternatives: Jilantangan Island (good holding in sand in about 7 m) across the channel to the east.

Best for

A quieter overnight than the Santa Fe ferry roadstead in SW winds

Season

SW monsoon (Jun-Oct); exposed in NE trades
