Bahile Anchorage (Ulugan Bay)

10° 2.4′ N · 118° 47.1′ E · approximate

The inner end of Ulugan Bay off the Bahile river mouth, the most enclosed water in the bay and the closest point to the Bahile road and the Puerto Princesa North Road for a taxi across to the city.

Practical

Position approximate: about 600 m north of Tarakaiawan Islet in the inner bay, checked as water against the OpenStreetMap coastline; no cruising guide opened publishes depths or holding here, so sound in and expect mud or sand near the mangrove shores. The Philippine Navy's Carlito Cunanan Naval Station sits on the shore about 1.2 nm south-southeast (OpenStreetMap landuse military): keep clear of its piers and any restricted water, and expect to be asked your business. Bahile village and schools are ashore to the south. In October 2024 a cruising boat anchored in Ulugan Bay and cleared out for Malaysia by taxi to Puerto Princesa, with Customs riding back to inspect the boat (Noonsite comment).

Best for

The most sheltered spot in Ulugan Bay and a base to reach Puerto Princesa by road

Season
