Ulugan Bay Anchorage

A large, deeply indented bay on Palawan's west coast directly across the island from Puerto Princesa, with inner arms (Oyster Bay, Taronagan, Manabori, Tagnipa) and small islets. Cruisers use it as a west-coast base for clearing out by road through Puerto Princesa.
Practical
Position approximate: the centre of the bay as mapped in OpenStreetMap, not a sounded anchorage. In October 2024 a cruising boat anchored in Ulugan Bay, took a taxi across to Puerto Princesa to clear out for Malaysia, and a Customs officer rode back to the bay to inspect the boat (Noonsite). Choose a spot in the inner arms for shelter and check depths yourself; no published depth or holding data. The Buenavista Viewdeck on the road above looks down over the whole bay.
