Badian Bay Anchorage (Tomonoy)

9° 54.8′ N · 123° 23.6′ E

The one practical yacht anchorage near Moalboal: a small 13 m mud patch off Barangay Tomonoy in otherwise very deep Badian Bay, a few miles south of Panagsama.

Practical

Freebird (June 2015): 9°54.8'N 123°23.61'E, about 13 m, good holding in mud, just off the reef between two floating fish farms; landmarks are two large western-style houses ashore, one circular with a brown roof, the other with a green roof. Most of Badian Bay is too deep for small boats. Mokisha (July 2017) anchored nearby in 40 ft (12 m) and drifted over 30 ft - marginal because the reef rises quickly to the south; Globe 4G good. The lagoon behind Badian Island looks tempting but its access channel is blocked by reef. Tomonoy is where Japanese troops surrendered to Filipino guerrillas in August 1944.
