Virgen Sumergida (Acapulco Underwater Virgin)
16° 49.6′ N · 99° 54.3′ W · approximate
A 2.5 m statue of the Virgin of Guadalupe, designed by Héctor Mestre and sculpted by Armando Quezada, set on the bottom near Playa Caleta and visited by divers, snorkelers and every glass-bottom boat; schooling fish swirl around it.
Practical
Approximate: placed in the Boca Chica channel between Playa Caleta (OSM 16.8313, -99.9044) and Isla La Roqueta, where the glass-bottom harbour tours from Caleta stop to view it; the exact position and depth are not published in the sources found. Dive Magazine calls the site 'La Reina de los Mares' near Playa de Caleta; Wikivoyage lists the submarine Virgin of Guadalupe among the harbour-tour stops (glass-bottom tours about US$7 from Caleta). Heavy panga and water-taxi traffic: go with a local operator rather than swimming from a yacht.
Best for
An easy, quirky dive or glass-bottom-boat stop
