Olas Altas Malecón
23° 11.8′ N · 106° 25.6′ W
The original 1940s–60s seafront of Mazatlán, a curving beach and promenade lined with historic hotels and seafood restaurants. It's the start of a malecón that runs for miles north toward the hotel zone, studded with sculptures and monuments.
Practical
Four blocks west of the Plazuela Machado. The cliff divers jump from a 13 m (45 ft) rock into 2–3 m of water at the north end (23.2013, -106.4307), timing each dive to the swell. Farther north are the Monumento al Pescador and Playa Norte, where palapa fish restaurants sit on the beach. It's the main carnaval venue in February. Coordinate is the Olas Altas beach (Wikivoyage).
