One of the oldest and biggest carnivals in the Americas, running for more than a century. For six days before Ash Wednesday, parades, concerts and fireworks fill the Olas Altas waterfront and the old town.

Practical

Held over the six days before Ash Wednesday (February or early March). The main events are the parades along the malecón, the crowning of the Carnival Queen and King, and the pyrotechnics shows over Olas Altas. Marinas and hotels fill up, so book a slip early. The event was cancelled in 2021 (COVID). Official schedule: carnavalmazatlan.com. Coordinate is the Olas Altas waterfront, derived from the Wikivoyage beach listing.
