Marina Mazatlán

23° 16.3′ N · 106° 27.3′ W · approximate

The larger marina basin farther up the Sábalo channel, surrounded by condos, restaurants and bars, and home to many long-term cruising sailboats. Most Mazatlán cruisers berth here, and the morning net and cruiser community are centered on it.

Practical

Noonsite says Marina Mazatlán gives much more protection than El Cid, as does the neighboring Isla Mazatlán Golden resort. The marina produces a Cruiser's Guide for the area, and the separate Mazatlán Cruiser's Guide (free; now kept up by Ray Watson of Mazatlán Yacht Services) lists recommended local services, a bus guide and Spanish boat-part vocabulary. A cruiser report (2015) says the docks are in good condition, though some security gates did not work, and the showers are good. Restaurants and bars such as La Mona Pizza de la Marina and El Perla Negra line the marina boulevard. Check your slip depth before committing, and enter at high or slack tide. Coordinate is derived from the OpenStreetMap pier outlines in the main basin. Rates were not published online; call ahead or ask on the net (VHF 72).
