Majahual Malecón Beach Bars
18° 42.9′ N · 87° 42.5′ W
Rebuilt after Hurricane Dean, Majahual's 1.7 km beachfront malecón is lined with palapa restaurants and beach clubs serving local fish and lobster - lively on cruise days, sleepy the rest of the week.
Practical
Coordinate is Yaya Beach Club on the malecón (Wikivoyage; bar, restaurant and beach service 9 am-midnight). Others listed by Wikivoyage: Maramao (seafood with Italian touches, on the beach at the south end), Capitán Mono (on the malecón), La Bodeguita (locals' sports bar, 1 pm-1 am). Spanish Wikipedia describes the roughly 1,700 m walkway and the largest public beach in Quintana Roo. Cash is king: ATMs are few and often empty; an HSBC ATM is at the Pemex station 4 km west on the access road (Wikivoyage, 2012 note).
Best for
Sundowners and a fish dinner ashore
