Bahía Falsa Anchorage

24° 15.6′ N · 110° 18.8′ W

The first anchorage north of the La Paz channel, about five miles from town - a quick escape for a quiet night, a bottom cleaning in clear water or to sit out a norther.

Practical

Position: Cruisers Academy anchor pin (24°15'36.9"N 110°18'48.2"W); OCG safe-distance waypoint 24°14.750'N 110°20.000'W. Anchor almost anywhere in sand, 10-20 ft; the head shoals quickly so most boats sit in the middle, others off Punta Colorada in the south end in settled weather. Good N and E protection ('great holding even in 30 kn', OCG review Jan 2025) but wide open to SW Coromuel winds on spring and summer nights - have a backup. Bottom hazard (anchor-snagging debris) reported near Punta Colorada at 24°14.851'N 110°19.760'W. Confirm you are in the right cove - several look alike; stay clear of ferries turning out of Pichilingue. The highway runs along the shore (road noise). Palapa restaurant and a small beach ashore; easy bus/taxi to La Paz. Sevenstar yacht transport sometimes loads here.

Best for

Quiet night or norther refuge near town
