Well's Bay Moorings

17° 38.5′ N · 63° 15.2′ W

The most comfortable of Saba's lee moorings according to cruisers: a cliff-ringed bay on the northwest coast with a 'wandering beach' of black sand that comes and goes with the swell, brown boobies overhead and Torrens Point and Diamond Rock at the north end.

Practical

Coordinates are the OpenStreetMap Well's Bay bay feature. Part of the west-side designated anchorage/mooring zone between Ladder Bay and Well's Bay; use the yellow visitor moorings (max 20 m / 50 t, 7 days). A 2019 Noonsite comment rated it the most comfortable area but rolly at night and singled out mooring G as the best sheltered. The paved Well's Bay Road comes down from The Bottom, but dinghy landing on the cobbles can be dangerous in swell - the park advises clearing and landing at Fort Bay. The black-sand beach usually appears March to October and can vanish for years. Swimming and snorkelling are popular here.

Best for

Calmest overnight mooring on Saba's lee coast; snorkelling at Torrens Point

Season

Beach usually present Mar-Oct; northerly swell makes it rolly (winter)
