Syndicate Nature Trail & Sisserou Parrot
15° 31.3′ N · 61° 25.0′ W
A 1.4 km loop through towering rainforest on the flank of Morne Diablotin - the best place to see Dominica's two endemic parrots, the critically endangered Sisserou (Imperial Amazon, the bird on the national flag) and the Jaco (Red-necked Amazon).
Practical
Coordinates: OpenStreetMap 'Syndicate rainforest trail'. Access via the paved feeder road from just north of Dublanc, 5 miles (8 km) to the visitor centre (snackette, washrooms). Easy, 45-60 minutes. Eco-site fee for non-residents: US$8 single, US$20 day, US$50 week (Forestry, effective Dec 2025), tickets on site. Go early morning with a birding guide; parrots are shy and wary. The Sisserou nests Feb-Apr; only about 50 mature birds were estimated in the wild in 2019 (Wikipedia). Syndicate Falls is nearby.
