Salisbury Anchorage
15° 26.2′ N · 61° 26.5′ W · approximate
An open-roadstead anchorage off Salisbury village on the central west coast, with sandy patches, a couple of beach bars and snorkelling by the northern jetty.
Practical
Position approximate - about 500 m off OpenStreetMap's Salisbury village point; anchor in sand by eye. Noforeignland users (rated 4.3) report good holding in the sandy areas, snorkelling near the northern jetty, and recommend Chez Boyd for drinks and food. Macoucherie beach and the Macoucherie rum distillery (OpenStreetMap) are just south. The Salisbury marine reserve is one of Dominica's three dive reserves (Dive Dominica) - do not anchor on coral. Exposed to the west; leave in northerly swell.
Best for
A local-village stop between Portsmouth and Roseau
Season
Settled trades; untenable in W/N swell
