Mero Beach Anchorage
15° 25.1′ N · 61° 25.8′ W
The longest dark-sand beach on the west coast, lined with beach bars and the Castaways hotel - the halfway stop between Portsmouth and Roseau and the finish of the PAYS Race to Mero.
Practical
Position from Noonsite (15 deg 25'06"N, 61 deg 25'47"W). Noonsite (2016): permission to visit should be obtained when clearing in; good holding on the sand shelf SW of the dinghy dock; beware the artificial reef in front of the hotel; Castaways welcomes yachts and lets them use hotel facilities; basic provisions in the village; swell builds in unsettled weather. Noforeignland users: good holding in sand and seagrass, can be rolly. PAYS planned visitor moorings between Toucari and Mero (2024/25) and a Mero dinghy dock - check what exists. Mero Beach is listed as Dominica's most popular beach (avirtualdominica). Dive sites off Mero: Rodney's Rock, Nose Reef, Whaleshark Reef, Rina's Hole.
