Guadeloupe's offshore jet-ski raid, launched in 1998 and recognised by the UIM as a world championship in 2006: several days of racing around the island with about a hundred riders, based at Plage de Viard in Petit-Bourg.
Practical
Position: Plage de Viard, Petit-Bourg (OpenStreetMap way 993118690). The 2017 edition ran 1-9 April at Viard; the 21st edition finished on Sunday 13 May 2018 at Viard, and RCI reported at the time that a 2019 edition was in doubt. We found no confirmed edition since 2018 - check before planning around it. When it runs, expect high-speed jet-ski traffic along the coast of Basse-Terre and the Petit Cul-de-Sac; keep a sharp lookout.
