Gustavia Port of Entry: Hours & Immigration (Gendarmerie)

17° 53.8′ N · 62° 51.2′ W

How the Gustavia port of entry actually works: customs formalities are done at the Capitainerie during its 7:00 am-6:00 pm daily hours, and immigration questions go to the Gendarmerie nationale at Fort Oscar - there is no separate customs office for yachts.

Practical

Position is the Gendarmerie nationale (OpenStreetMap, Fort Oscar on La Pointe). Port office hours: every day of the year, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm; all communication with the Capitainerie is by VHF channel 12. Entry and exit formalities are compulsory for every yacht and can be done at the port office or online up to 24 hours ahead (clairances.portdegustavia.fr), but the online form is only registered once it is printed and signed at the office. An agent is not required. The French customs list of approved clearance points names the Capitainerie (VHF 12, +590 590 27 66 97) as St Barth's provider. Immigration: email the Gendarmerie at bta.st-barthelemy@gendarmerie.interieur.gouv.fr. Arrive after 6:00 pm: stay aboard with the Q flag up and clear in the next morning.
