A long, popular sand beach just north of Deshaies with bars and restaurants nearby (Noonsite) - a walk or a short sail from town; Plage de la Perle, just beyond it, has the 'Death in Paradise' inspector's beach house.
Practical
Position: Plage de Grande Anse in OpenStreetMap (way 54899850). Walk from the Deshaies dinghy dock: turn left, past the petrol station, up the hill and left after the municipal stadium - about 35 minutes (Noonsite). Or anchor off the beach (see Grande Anse Anchorage (Deshaies)). Sea-turtle nesting beach - keep lights and noise down at night. The surf can be heavy in northerly swell; unsupervised swimming.
