Deshaies Clearance Office

16° 18.4′ N · 61° 47.7′ W · approximate

Deshaies is an official French customs clearance point, the first port of entry most boats reach on the way south from Antigua or Montserrat. The town's port service handles the clearance computer since the long-time agent, the Le Pelican shop, stopped.

Practical

French customs' 2026 list of approved clearance points gives Deshaies as 'Mairie de Deshaies - Service portuaire', phone +590 690 25 37 80. Coordinate approx: the Mairie and municipal police (OSM way 41767073 and way 119340102) on Boulevard des Poissonniers just north of the dinghy dock. Cruiser reports (2024-2025): clearance is no longer done at Le Pelican; it moved to a grey building/customs container across the bridge, closed at weekends and around Mardi Gras; fee EUR10 without a printed copy or EUR5 with one (Feb 2025 comment). In Feb 2024 the municipal police cleared out boats on paper on Monday from 9am. You can complete the online French Antilles declaration in advance and only have the attestation endorsed here. Mairie hours in OSM: Mon-Fri 7:30am-2:30pm.
