Every 15 August Terre-de-Haut celebrates Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption and the 1666 victory over the English with several days of festivities - beauty pageants, dancing, competitions, fireworks and a big Caribbean-music party.
Practical
Position approx: the parish church (OSM). Festivities begin from 14 August; 15 and 16 August are the main days with many artists (English Wikipedia). A competition for the best and biggest tourment d'amour is held (French Wikipedia). Expect a crowded mooring field and ferries; book moorings/restaurants early. Note this falls in hurricane season. Terre-de-Bas holds its own feast on 8-9 August.
