Baie de Pompierre

15° 52.3′ N · 61° 34.3′ W

A horseshoe of sand and palms on Terre-de-Haut's northeast side, almost closed off by the fractured islets of Les Roches Percées - calm, shallow water and the island's classic family beach.

Practical

Position is the Plage de Pompierre beach polygon in OSM. Walk from town (about 20-30 minutes over the hill) or ride an electric cart/scooter; sandwich stands at the beach entrance and two Creole restaurants on the road (Wikivoyage). The bay was classified as a protected site in 1991. Les Roches Percées islet in the bay is a classified natural site where entry and anchoring by any boat is strictly forbidden (OSM marks a no-entry area). Snorkelling is possible, with turtles sometimes seen (Guadeloupe tourism board). Not an anchorage - reach it on foot.

Best for

Calm swimming and a palm-shaded beach day
