Practical
Sea Seek cruising notes (2015) for the Okala Island anchorage: anchor in 25 ft on black sand at the bottom of a long valley with great cliffs on both sides; leave the islands to port on approach. The Pacific Cup cruising notes list Waikolu as one of the sheltered North Shore valley anchorages. Coordinate is approx, derived from the GNIS positions of Okala Island (21.1745, -156.9289) and the Waikolu Stream mouth (21.1695, -156.9304). Waikolu Valley is partly within Kalaupapa National Historical Park and NPS lists it among restricted areas: do not land without a permit. Summer only.
