The state launch ramp in a canal at Kapaa on the east shore, the main trailer-boat access between Lihue and Anahola.
Practical
DOBOR: 2-lane ramp, loading dock and vessel washdown; about 10 miles north of Lihue; phone (808) 241-3110. Coast Pilot: an opening in the reef off Kapaa, usually marked by breakers on either side; at Waipouli Beach Park an opening in the reef with a marked channel, spanned by a footbridge, leads to a sheltered boat ramp. Coordinate: USGS GNIS 'Waikaea Canal'. Shoal draft only; the east-shore reef breaks in fresh trades.
