Hanamaulu Bay
21° 59.6′ N · 159° 20.2′ W · approximate
A small bay north of Lihue Airport with a white-sand beach at its head and the ruins of the old Ahukini Landing on its south point.
Practical
Coast Pilot: about 0.3 mile wide; only the outer third has deep water, the sand-and-coral bottom shoaling from the 18-ft curve to the beach; a 20-ft abandoned lighthouse tower on the 300-ft breakwater at the south point; a heavy outside swell causes heavy surge; no longer used by large vessels. Restricted zones apply (HAR 13-256-51). Coordinate: USGS GNIS bay position. NOAA tide station 1611443 Hanamaulu Bay. A poor-weather-only curiosity, not a recommended anchorage.
