Kapaa Reef Anchorage
22° 5.4′ N · 159° 18.8′ W · approximate
A shallow small-craft anchorage behind the reef off the north side of Kapaa town, for shoal-draft boats in settled weather.
Practical
Coast Pilot: a reef up to 0.3 mile wide runs alongshore from north of Kapaa to Hanamaulu Bay; an opening in the reef at Kapaa is usually marked by breakers on either side; small craft anchor in about 2 fathoms behind the reef about 150 yards off the north side of the village. Whole northeast coast is unsafe to anchor when the trades blow. Coordinate approximated off the north side of Kapaa from the GNIS town position; local knowledge essential. Big Save Kapaa (Times Supermarket store list) is in town.
