Moku Manu Seabird Sanctuary
21° 28.2′ N · 157° 43.2′ W · approximate
Two sheer-sided islets, 202 and 132 ft high, 0.7 mile north of Ulupau Head off Mokapu: a seabird sanctuary and the landmark that marks the east side of the Kaneohe Bay approach.
Practical
Position is Wikipedia's coarse coordinate (two decimal places); the Coast Pilot places the islets 0.7 mile north of the Ulupau Crater headland. The passage between the islets and the peninsula has mid-channel depths of 3.5-8.5 fathoms but is not recommended for strangers; an east current is reported nearby. Pacific Cup arrival notes: breakers offshore of Mokumanu are dangerous even in daylight; keep it to port on a north approach and stay clear of the yellow danger-zone buoys. It lies inside the Marine Corps Ulupau weapons-range danger zone (33 CFR 334.1380).
