Position is approximate, just off the middle of Kailua Beach where kiters and windsurfers launch (derived from the Kailua Beach Park position and the center and north-end launch areas described by to-hawaii.com). HAR 13-256-74 reserves Zone A off the western boundary of Kailua Beach Park for windsurfing: about 300 ft along shore by 1,150 ft offshore; when windsurfers are using it, no motorboat operation or swimming is allowed there. Give the zone a wide berth if anchoring or running a dinghy in Kailua Bay. Box jellyfish and man-of-war occasionally after the full moon.
