21° 23.8′ N · 157° 43.6′ W

Thirty-five acres of ironwood shade and soft sand at the south end of Kailua Bay, the windward side's best all-round beach and Oahu's windsurfing and kite capital.

Practical

Restrooms, showers, picnic tables, concession, lifeguards and parking. Kite and windsurfers use the center and north end; families swim at the south end near Kaelepulu Stream and the boat ramp. Popoia (Flat Island) is about a quarter mile offshore. Portuguese man-of-war and box jellyfish appear occasionally, often 9-12 days after a full moon; watch for warning signs. Buzz's Original Steakhouse and Kalapawai Market are across the road; Kailua town (groceries) is about 1.5 miles inland.
