Kihei Fuel (Road Gas Stations; No Marine Fuel Dock)

20° 43.3′ N · 156° 26.8′ W · approximate

South Maui has no marine fuel dock: the Kihei Boat Ramp and Makena Landing have no pumps, so outboard gasoline comes by jerry can from Kihei's road stations and diesel for a cruising boat means a trip to Maalaea.

Practical

Approx: position is the Texaco station on South Kihei Road (OpenStreetMap way 450381707), the nearest station to the Kihei Boat Ramp at about 1 mile north. Other Kihei stations in OpenStreetMap: 76 at Kihei Kalama Village (about 20.7310, -156.4516), Texaco and Hele on Piikea Avenue (about 20.7488 to 20.7492, -156.4552), Ohana Fuels (about 20.7515, -156.4489) and Hele farther north (about 20.7749, -156.4527). Diesel availability at each station was not verified: ask. DOBOR lists the Kihei ramp facilities as 3 ramps, 2 docks, washdown, restrooms and shower and offshore moorings, with no fuel; Maalaea Small Boat Harbor fuel is 'delivered by truck' (arrange through the harbor office, (808) 243-5818, VHF 68). Carry approved containers, fuel the tender ashore, and avoid spills at the ramp docks.

Best for

Jerry-can gasoline for the tender and knowing there is no fuel dock south of Maalaea
