Vasilikos Peninsula Coves

37° 44.0′ N · 20° 58.8′ E · approximate

The east coast of the Vasilikos peninsula, north of Porto Roma, is a chain of sandy beaches and pine-backed coves: Kaminia, Porto Zorro, Banana (Vasilikos) beach, Agios Nikolaos and Mavratzis. In NW weather they offer daytime anchoring over sand in clear water.

Practical

Coordinate is off Banana beach, derived from the OpenStreetMap beach outline (approximate). No cruising-guide anchoring data was found for these coves; treat them like Porto Roma: sheltered from the prevailing NW, open to the east (SailingIssues for Porto Roma). Expect water-sports traffic (jet skis, banana rides, parasailing) off Banana and Agios Nikolaos beaches in summer; anchor well clear of swimming areas. Beaches here are outside the marine park nesting zones, which start south-west of Cape Geraki. Supermarkets and tavernas line the Vasilikos road behind the beaches.

Best for

Lunch stops on the way between Zakynthos Town and Porto Roma
